Web-based interactive version of the
Flashmap Roadmap wall posters
ITscout is targeted to visitors doing 'self-service' IT research.
My name is Jeff Tash. I’m the ITscout. I'm the person responsible for choosing everything that goes onto the Flashmap Roadmap wall posters and everything that appears on this ITscout web site. My promise is to deliver ITscout with a strong keel that will allow visitors to set their own course based on unbiased compass readings.
I develop cognitive roadmaps -- visual taxonomies -- that provide
at-a-glance views of IT.
I collect, organize, classify, and categorize all kinds of
information that I discover as I surf the Web. ITscout is where
I share my research. I invite you to come visit, discover, explore and learn.
ITscout is totally commercial free.
ITscout visitors are identified by their e-mail address. All visitors are required to register. I promise not to sell or share your private information,
especially your e-mail address,
with any outside third party.
Shortly after registering, a password will
be sent to your e-mail address. Please
use that password for subsequent logins.
You can change your password by selecting the USER PROFILE
tab. If you
forget your password, or if you never receive an e-mail after registration,
then click below the Log In button on the link labeled Forgot Password?,
and a new password will be sent to your e-mail address.
After successfully logging in, visitors have the option of saving a cookie.
Visitors using cookies never have to manually re-login to ITscout again unless they
explicitly logout using the ITscout LOGOUT tab.
ITscout's
home page is the same as the ITscout FLASHMAPS tab.
It includes a search option where you can enter one or more search words into
the input box on the top right portion of the page.
The default search is Any Match. To specify Exact Wording,
click the check box. Your objective is to find your
bearings on the Flashmap Roadmaps. From there, you can discover and explore.
The
ITscout FLASHMAPS tab also presents
graphical models representing the Flashmap Roadmaps.
Roll your mouse
over the graphics and hover.
Click to drill-down.
On
the line just below the tab bar, is the path
bar. The path bar always shows your current
position inside the Flashmap Roadmap taxonomies.
The labels comprising the path are themselves hyperlinks. One way to navigate ITscout is by clicking on
the elements making up the path bar. On the FLASHMAPS tab, the path bar
indicates your login identifier.
Click
on the Help tab for additional
information.
What’s the Gimmick?
Why is ITscout free?
ITscout
exposes people, like you, to a modified
version of ITguide and ITatlas and the ITscout Roadmaps. If you like what you see, then perhaps you might
want to request a click-along-with-Lois
ITguide and/or ITatlas demo.
Or, maybe you'd like to buy a
IT Roadmap wall poster. They make great stocking stuffers!
CAUTION:
Although based on ITguide and ITatlas, ITscout uses only a portion of ITguide and ITatlas’
functionality.
ITguide and ITatlas are NOT
ITscout
ITscout is NOT ITguide or ITatlas.

*** To learn more about features in ITguide and ITatlas
beyond what’s demonstrated in ITscout, please contact Lois Aronson at
617-332-3101. She can show you how your
IT organization can use ITguide or ITatlas to manage, communicate and enforce
standards, architectures and strategies related to your infrastructure and
applications technology portfolio.
I
make no claims regarding ITscout’s completeness, fairness, accuracy, or
anything else. ITscout is simply my
modest attempt to model the entire
IT industry. ITscout is a mile wide and
in a few places more than an inch deep.
I
welcome feedback of any kind --
corrections or additions -- suggestions on how to improve this site. When you're visiting
ITscout, you're never more than one click away from sending me e-mail. That's
what the FEEDBACK tab is for. I look forward to hearing from you.
I hope you're satisfied with ITscout and that you find the Flashmap Roadmap taxonomies
useful. Please come back again soon and tell your
friends about ITscout.
If
you have any questions regarding ITscout, Flashmap Roadmaps, Flashmap Systems, ITatlas, ITguide, or
anything else -- please contact Lois
Aronson at 617-332-3101.
